smj6441 asked: I have a 2 3/4 yr old boy. I started potty training him 5 wks ago. I am due to have my 2nd child in 2 wks. My oldest son had 2 accident free days 3 wks ago & I thought that we were on the road to success. Since that point he is having 3-6 accidents per day. I am pretty sure that he is ready to train; he stays dry 1-2 hours at a time, wakes up from nap dry, tells me when he did potty, etc. I don't know if he is stressed by the coming of the new baby & that's why we are not making progress or if he is boried with the idea. Most books I've read and people that I talk to say don't go back to diapers. Does anybody have suggestions on how to ensure success? (should I go back to diapers?) Any helpful hints?! I have tried treats for dry spells, big boy underwear, letting him take control of his potty times, etc. I am unsure what to do and don't want to make it harder for him in the long run or make it worse than what it is.

LEM asked: I have an 18 week old Shih Tzu puppy that I just got a week ago. He was already 100% potty-pad trained before I took him home. I would like to break that habit by taking him outside the house to potty instead. I've been reading a lot of information on it and I've come to learn that it is best to use a crate during potty training during times when a puppy is unsupervised. My question is if it would be just as effective to leave him confined in a small area (more or less about 3x3 feet) with a baby gate to keep him in instead of a crate? Would that work just as well?
Any suggestions on how to make the transition from pad-training to going outside the house? I would really appreciate any help. A million of thanks in advance.

She uses Pull-Up training pants as diapers. I only ask because my sister's daughter is two years old and potty trained. My sister started potty training her daughter at 1 1/2 years old. Shouldn't my friend be started potty training her 3 1/2 year old by now?
Yes my friend's daughter is normal and she is very intelligent for her age. That's why I can't understand why her mother hasn't started trying to potty train her.

Tori's Mama asked: Do you think its harder to train a girl or a boy? I know my daughter is ready since she has gone many times on the potty and she understands. But she is only 18 months so it is kindof hard because she doesnt really let me know when she has to go. Is 18 months too young to start potty training? Should I wait longer? Ive have been taking to the potty for the last months when I can but now that the holidays are over I will have more time.

We've tried EVERYTHING, he has his own lil potty, we have the one that goes on the big toilet, my mom tried the "sink the cheerio" thing..we put him in big boy underwear and he still wets himself. He has a friend the same age and shes already potty trained. Hes seen her go and everything but that doesnt "inspire" him to go... any suggestions?
